Lisa has worked in economic development since 1989. She helps organizations flourish by improving their long-term viability. She has worked with elected officials, non-profit organizations and community groups.

Lisa also enjoys working with entrepreneurs and business owners and appreciates their role in growing the region’s economy. She is proud to be part of an effort to increase technical assistance, networking, skill-building and financing for entrepreneurs.

Lisa grew up on a farm in the Wallowa Valley and enjoys working with the people and communities that define the rural region in which she makes her home.

Sara is devoted to helping rural communities create their own destiny. Since 1994 she has worked closely with non-profits, business owners, cities and counties, multi-cultural groups, and ad-hoc committees. Having seen the power of people who are motivated to make good things happen, Sara is grateful to be able to find and provide needed resources.

Sara's assistance might involve:

  • Discovering and leveraging what is of value in a place or organization
  • Acknowledging limitations and finding or building knowledge, skills and resources
  • Supporting low-moderate income individuals to start and grow businesses
  • Helping different voices be heard in order to strengthen decision making
  • Uncovering options, weighing trade-offs

Sara lives in Wallowa County, where she and her husband own and operate several small businesses.

Erin has lived in Wallowa County since 1991. She is the co-chair of Slow Food Wallowas and volunteers at the Wallowa Buddhist Temple, where she has organized their annual fundraising dinner at Russell’s. Erin has participated in the Ford Family Foundation Leadership Institute as both a participant and a trainer.

Kristy Athens has extensive experience working with small businesses to share their vision with the community. She has an M.S. in Food Systems and Society and is the author of Get Your Pitchfork On!: The Real Dirt on Country Living. She has lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1995—in Portland and in Klickitat County, Washington—and moved to Wallowa County in 2013.
